"With any business, it's important to provide an appealing service for customers but what about the employees? What if somebody pulls a Winchester and tries to screw them? That's where job security comes in and now every contract holds an iron clad protection clause."
— Beezlebub

Beelzebub is a crossroads demon that is the successor to Crowley's former position as 'King of the Crossroads'. He has rallied the crossroad demons to his side based on new 'security' ideas that even impressed the King of Hell.

He had formally introduced himself to the members of Michael's Battalion that were led by Victor Morales. Since then, he has become a personal enemy for the human.

Background[]

In ancient times, Beelzebub had been a "demon of plague", infecting humans with hard diseases and lethal symptoms to make local populaces become erratic and desperate in their panic of being next to become stricken sick. He would then go around and grant people cures or immunities from the plagues he created in exchange for their souls, services or personal sacrifices. He found it a 'pretty lucrative gig'.

When Crowley resumed his post of King of Hell after Abaddon's defeat, Beezlebub heard that Crowley was looking for 'out of the box' ideas for racking up souls and he felt that stopping them from being rescued or forfeited could help. He thought that a good way of safeguarding the souls, especially from hunters, was adding a little 'protection clause' to the contracts. One that ensured that if the demon that made the deal was killed or was banished to Hell by an exorcism then all souls they currently had unclaimed would immediately be collected and sent down to Hell even if they were years away from their time coming due. He had hoped that this would ensure that all the humans who made crossroad deals made sure that they didn't talk and would even work to protect the demons by stopping anyone that was 'asking questions', especially hunters. Crowley thought the idea was brilliant and promoted Beezlebub to his former position of King of the Crossroads.

Season 10[]

In Ohio, three separate crossroad deals made by the same demon had caught the attention of three separate scouts belonging to Michael's Battalion. As they began to dig around they soon all met their ends by the people that had made the deals as to protect the demon due to the new clause in the contracts. The scouts deaths drew the attention of the Battalion and some arrived to investigate the cause. Among them were Victor Morales, Judice Parker and Riley Ackerman. Their investigations eventually brought them to the people that made the deals and they managed to subdue each of them and learned of the protection clause in the crossroad deals. One of them revealed that he learned from the demon that it was new due to a new "Crossroad King". While Judice and Victor were sympathetic to their plight, it was eventually decided that they couldn't let the deals stand, yet they also moved to try and find a way to protect the people that made the deals. They managed to summon the demon into a Devil's Trap and quickly moved to begin to exorcise it with their Enochian Binding Exorcism. The speed of the exorcism only left the demon enough time to scream that all of them were now dead, before he was banished and sealed back into Hell. Just a moment later, the air went still and the people that made the deals began to feel something coming for them. Each of the Battalion members put on special glasses blessed by Holy Fire to be able to see Hellhounds now coming for them. In the following battle, the Battalion were able to kill off the hellhounds but not before they had gone through all three humans that made the deals.

As they lamented their failure to save the three of them, Beelzebub arrived and applauded their failed efforts. After introducing himself, he filled them in on his past and his new position. He explained that it used to be that demon deals were iron clad but recent years had seen people actually find ways to avoid their fates and Hell get cheated for its services. Beelzebub claimed that while Crowley does pride Hell with Customer Satisfaction, he let himself overlook Job Security but he's now solved that problem with his new protection clause that ensures that no Hunter, or Battalion member, interferes, at least without serious compensation. His talk made Victor angry as he said that human souls aren't something to buy and trade with but Beelzebub wonders if the human would say the same thing if he truly got desperate enough. He claimed humans were stupid and would do, give anything, even their souls for getting what they want, no matter how colossal or trivial that want really is when they thought there was no other way. Having enough of listening to Beelzebub, Judice tried to quickly use their exorcism on him but Beelzebub effortlessly threw her back with with a flick of his finger. Victor went to her aid as the others moved to try and engage Beelzebub. He shrugged off their attacks, killing them until only Victor, Riley and Judice were left. Victor moved to try and distract Beelzebub to give Judice another attempt at the exorcism but he saw through their move and grabbed onto Riley by the throat. He ordered them to remove their cuffs or he would kill Riley. Riley tried to tell them to exorcise and bind him but Victor and Judice heeded Beelzebub and removed their cuffs. He laughed and told Victor that he just proved his point about humans being stupid and desperate and snapped Riley's neck to their horror. He then disappeared, leaving them to lament their losses.

Facts and Trivia[]

Beelzebub is commonly known as the second name for Devil. In Christian lore, he is one of the seven princes of Hell. He is depicted as a fly therefore he is referred to as the 'Lord of Flies'.
